TOKYO SKYTREE®New Year Events
We will be holding a variety of events, called “TOKYO SKYTREE New Year 2026”, at TOKYO SKYTREE®to celebrate the arrival of the New Year.
TOKYO SKYTREE will be lit up in special lighting in the image of the Japanese flag at the first moment of
the New Year. Meanwhile, sumo wrestlers from the Kise Stable of our home area of Sumida Ward will be
invited to the observation area for the first three days of the New Year in a special event, where visitors
can compare their strength with that of sumo wrestlers and take some great photos—350 meters above
the ground! A special strap with a traditional New Year decorative wooden block will be given to the first
2,026 visitors entering the observation area each day for the first three days of the New Year.
Make a fresh start for the New Year in the sky!
For the first three days of the New Year, we will present the first 2,026 visitors a strap with a New Year wooden block, decorated with official TOKYO SKYTREE®characters Sorakara-chan, Sukoburuburu , and Teppenpen each day.

TOKYO SKYTREE is staging a lion dance for the New Year celebrations. This traditional dance, intended to ward off illness, is performed to the rhythms of traditional Japanese music.

We would like to share the fun of sumo—a form of traditional Japanese culture firmly rooted in local Sumida Ward. To this end, we are inviting the sumo wrestlers of Kise Stable of Sumida Ward to the observation area for a special event where visitors can compare their strength with that of these wrestlers—and take some great photos.

TOKYO SKYTREE, adorned with the beautiful sight of New Year decorations along with the spectacular view from the observation area, offers a unique setting to take in the New Year. With a view of Mt. Fuji on a clear day, the observation area offers a photo opportunity spot that looks like a perfect New Year card photo.
